The Baker Middle School faculty will visit with every student’s family in their homes on August 20, 21, and 22. Each family will be visited by two staff members from the student’s grade level.
Students will be dismissed at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 20 and Thursday, August 21. Home visits also will be conducted all day on Friday, August 22, which is a district-wide assessment day and not a school day for students.
The focus of the home visits is to welcome both students and families back to school, listen to parent concerns and share information about the upcoming school year. Visiting faculty members will stress the importance of attendance, homework, and parental support for student achievement.
“These one on one conversations are designed to build the beginning of strong partnership between school and home for the 2003-2004 school year,” said Baker principal Linda Torres.
Before or after their appointments at home, students will have the opportunity to participate in activities at the Denver Public Library, the Boys and Girls Club and other neighborhood organizations.
Baker Middle School is located at 574 West 6th Ave. The school telephone number is 303-620-5560.
