Robert Woodson Wins Colorado Principals’ Center Award

Robert Woodson, principal at Jessie Whaley Maxwell Elementary School, was named the elementary school winner of Wright Way Award granted annually by the University of Colorado at Denver’s Colorado Principals’ Center. The award was given Wednesday, May 28.

Woodson was nominated by members of his staff for the many outstanding leadership characteristics he possesses. Specifically, the Wright Way Award considers how each nominee demonstrates creativity, reflection and collaboration in his or her role as a practicing principal. In all, there were 23 other nominees considered for this year’s two awards.

The committee that granted the award interviewed various members of the school staff and parents where each finalist works. The committee also toured each finalist’s school in order to get a complete picture of each nominee’s professional qualities.

The principal at Evergreen High School in Jefferson County Public Schools, Jane Sutera, was the secondary school recipient of the 2003 Wright Way Award.

For more information, please contact Frank Bingham with the Colorado Principals’ Center, 303-556-2190.
