More than 30 four-year-olds in Harrington Elementary School’s Head Start and Title I Early Childhood Education programs will take what for many will be their first-ever fishing trip today (Thursday, May 29) to Chase Gulch Reservoir in Central City.
“For many students, this will be their first trip out of Denver,” said Chip Wiman, Harrington Elementary School teacher and councilmember for Central City.
Students will leave the school at 9 a.m. and return at 3 p.m.
The Chase Gulch Reservoir and Dam were built to provide water for extensive development in Central City. The dam is a 100-foot tall concrete faced rock fill dam at an elevation of 8,700 feet. The reservoir is a private fishing lake.
Harrington Elementary School is located at 2401 E. 37th Ave. For information, contact Chip Wiman at the school, 303-333-4293.
