Catch a musical trip around the world during a unique production that combines the look of the colorful “Cirque du Soleil” and the sound of the show-stomping “Stomp”.
“Entertainment In Motion” will be presented by 24 first-grade students from the Rocky Mountain School of Expeditionary Learning (REMSEL) at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, May 28 and 29, at PLATTEforum 1610 Little Raven Street, Suite 125.
The interpretations were researched, choreographed and written by first-grade students. Come see what an exceptional group of students – ages 6 and 7 – can do when they set their minds to it.
The first-graders at Rocky Mountain School of Expeditionary Learning have created a musical masterpiece. Students researched New Mexico, Australia, China, Uzbekistan, India, Hungary, Russia and Trinidad to find out about their cultures and forms of entertainment. With this research they presented the music, clothing, traditions and forms of entertainment to their class. Next, they wrote a play following a little girl who travels around the world with a group of clowns. Through these travels the girl gets to see ribbon dancing, Chinese yo yo’s, fencing, yoga, gymnastics and many more wonders for the eye. In the end the little girl has to decide whether to stay with the clowns or to go back home.
Music has been written by Jimmy George and other artists. Music Gear Guys has donated their equipment and a person to run the sound for the production. PlatteFORUM has donated the use of their gallery for intermission and emergency rain performance.
