Greenwood Elementary School today (Friday, May 23) will celebrate 30 students who have read at least one million words as part of this year’s district-wide Million Words Campaign.
The event will begin at 2 p.m. at the school and will include the school’s namesake, Marie L. Greenwood. Each million-word reader will receive a medallion with a ribbon to wear and the readers and their parents will have a chance to create their own ice cream sundaes.
The Million Words Campaign is part of the district’s ongoing literacy program designed to increase reading fluency and improved vocabulary.
