Wyman Elementary To Recognize 14 Million-Word Readers Friday, May 2

Wyman Elementary School, 1690 Williams St., is celebrating its Million Words Campaign finale with a rally at 3 p.m. Friday, May 2. The school will be honoring the top five readers from each classroom and presenting medals to the 14 students who reached the million-word mark this year.

The celebration will include a parade complete with balloons, banners and ice cream. All of the staff at Wyman will be dressing up as a favorite book character for the event. Parents are invited to participate in the celebration.

The Million Words Campaign was introduced in September 2002 as part of the DPS literacy program. The campaign was created to encourage students to read and improve student achievement.
