Former Superintendent Bernadette Seick Named To DPS Athletic Hall Of Fame

Former Superintendent Bernadette Seick will be named to the DPS Athletic Hall of Fame during the annual Coaches Conference Thursday, May 22. The event will be held at the Regis University Student Union building (3333 Regis Blvd.) in northwest Denver beginning at 5 p.m.

"She championed high school athletics and stressed the values gained by students participating in co-curricular activities - leadership, team building, self-confidence and sportsmanship," said Leslie Moore, Director of Athletics for DPS. "She is our hero."

Bernadette R. Seick's career started in 1966 as a teacher at Manual High School. She also served as a teacher and student advisor at Place Middle School (1970-1985), as assistant principal and athletic director at John F. Kennedy High School (1985-1989), as principal of John F. Kennedy High School (1989-1994), as Assistant Superintendent of Secondary Education (1994-2000), and as DPS Superintendent (2000-2001).

The Coaches Conference will also include recognition of outstanding coaches in each sport.
