The Museum of Outdoor Arts recently announced the winners of the Twelfth Annual Design and Build Competition for high school students. Among 10 winners were student entries from East High School and Denver School of the Arts.
East High School’s entry is titled “Headlines;” Denver School of the Art’s entry is titled “Line of Sight.”
The competition is modeled after national percent-for-art programs in which artists submit site-specific public art proposals and maquettes. The competition offers participants the opportunity to develop cognitive thinking skills, hands-on experience and team-building proficiency in all facets of the public art process.
A public reception will be held at the Museum of Outdoor Arts (1000 Englewood Parkway in Englewood) on Wednesday, April 23 from 5 - 8 p.m. A walking tour of the winning artwork installations will begin at 6 p.m.
Winning public art pieces will be on display from April 23 through May 26, 2003. Winners receive a $700 stipend from the museum and the technical support to complete the artwork.
