Goldrick Elementary School, 1050 S. Zuni St., will celebrate Dr. Seuss’ birthday on Wednesday, Mar. 5, by participating in Read Across America.

Firefighters and uniformed police officers will be reading stories to first, and fourth graders as well as kindergartners and Early Childhood Education students.

In preparation for the celebration, students at Goldrick Elementary have been reading Dr. Seuss’ books, author studies, and some classes are voting on their favorite characters.

Read Across America celebrates Dr. Seuss’ birthday and encourages students to read. Read Across America is traditionally celebrated on Dr. Seuss’ birthday, Mar. 2. Since his birthday falls on a Sunday, schools are encouraged to celebrate on a day near his birthday.
