Smith Renaissance School of the Arts will celebrate students who have read one million words as part of the district’s literacy campaign on Friday, March 14. The awards assembly will begin at 9 a.m.

Each student will be recognized and “Mr. Bee” from Country Buffet will hand out certificates and vouchers for free meals.

Students being honored include Jalontee Pruitt (first grade); Lanora Loran, Ruby Jaime, Leonard Holland and Samantha Cao (second grade); Annastacia Anderson, Mireya Robles, Jasmine Allen, Gabriela Rivera, Cheyenna Beauford-Fauver, Jessica Hernandez and Trejon Watson (third grade); Jaquay McNeal, Edgar Briones, Dalen Loftis, Taylor Lewis, Saul Cervantes, Phillip Jenkins and Robert Holland (fourth grade); Laura Barrios, Shauntavia Brigham, Wendy Castanon, Kierra Copeland, Daphne Jumper, Elizabeth DeLeon and Nyda Yem (fifth grade).
