Teller Elementary School, 1150 Garfield St., will begin offering an adult English language class for parents and other community members, thanks to a donation from City Councilman Ed Thomas.
Thomas will present the school with a check for $1,873 on Friday, March 14, at 1:15 p.m. during the school’s good citizenship and honor student assembly.
Thomas has a long-standing and close working relationship with Teller Elementary. “I feel very committed to Denver Public Schools and I am so pleased to help with this special English language class for some of the students’ parents,” said Thomas.
Parents at the school requested the program so they could become more supportive of their children’s education.
The class is scheduled to meet twice a week, Monday and Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m., until the end of May. An instructor from the Emily Griffith Opportunity School will be teaching the class.
For more information on the program contact the school at (303) 333-4285.
