Award Winning Blues Player To Perform For Ebert Elementary Students

Ebert Elementary School alum and award winning blues player Otis Taylor will perform for students during a school assembly at 2:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 21.

Taylor, a lead vocalist as well as a guitar, banjo and harmonica player, has played with such famous artists as Muddy Waters, Otis Spann and Jimi Hendrix. In 2002 he won the W.C. Handy Best New Blues Artist of the Year award for his album Respect the Dead. Billboard Magazine called Respect the Dead, “one of the most important blues albums of 2002.”

Taylor’s recent success has led to four of his songs appearing in the film “The Badge.” In 1998, Blue Star Guitar Co. introduced an Otis Taylor special edition electric banjocaster.
