The students and staff at Smiley Middle School will open their contemporary opera “SHOES” on Feb. 27 and 28, 6:30 p.m. at the Smiley Neighborhood Center, 2540 Holly St.
“SHOES,” is an original production that was conceptualized, scripted, choreographed, scored and staged by the students and staff of Smiley Middle School.
In addition to raising money for the Smiley Neighborhood Center, the production also gives students the opportunity to learn what is involved in creating and organizing an opera.
“SHOES,” is a story of an urban girl who has dreams of becoming a dancer despite many challenges. The theme of the opera is, “Reaching for Your Dreams.”
Tickets can be purchased with a $10 donation at the Smiley Neighborhood Center. Ticket arrangements or any other contribution can be made by contacting Ada Southall or Yvonne Dollison at (303) 764-6913.
