The students and staff at Smiley Middle School will be hosting their first ever “Smiley Celebrates” on Thursday, Feb. 13 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Smiley Middle School, 2450 Holly St.

“Smiley Celebrates” will commemorate Black History Month through art, science, culture, and community. For the past two months Smiley students have been working with community artist and musicians to create artwork, poetry and African American musical numbers for the celebration.

Teachers have also been collaborating with students to help them write essays about their art projects, stories, or musical numbers.

In addition to this celebration, every student will be participating in annual science fair, which will be held during the same event.
