Bromwell Elementary School soon will be selling original Valentines Day cards made by students to raise money for the Alex Koyle Memorial Fund.
The valentines, which cost $3.00, will be on display at the Show of Hands Gallery, located at 210 Clayton St, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Feb 6. The valentines can be purchased at the gallery from Feb. 6 through Feb. 14.
Proceeds from the fundraiser will be donated to the Alex Koyle Memorial Fund, which will help benefit the Child Life/Therapeutic Recreation Program at The Children’s Hospital.
The Therapeutic Recreation/Child Life program makes the healthcare environment less threatening for children. The program encourages children to remain active and makes restrictions more tolerable by distracting children from boredom, pain and other distressing events. The Therapeutic Recreation Specialists and Child Life Specialists are trained in child and adolescent development.
The Alex Koyle Memorial Fund was created in memory of third-grader Alex Koyle, who died on Christmas Day. Alex had been a student at Bromwell since kindergarten.
This is the fourth year that Bromwell Elementary School has sold valentines for charity. Each year the school chooses a different charity for the donation.
Donations to the Alex Koyle Memorial Fund can be sent to the Children’s Hospital Foundation, 1245 East Colfax Ave. Suite 400, Denver, Colorado, 80218 or for more information contact Julia Shepherd at (303) 388-5969.
