The University of Denver women’s basketball players will give a motivational talk and clinic to the Dora Moore girls basketball team on Friday, Jan. 24. The session is due to start about 5:30 p.m.
Coach Patrick McDonald is hoping that the clinic will help the Dora Moore Eagles on and off the court.
“I want the team to learn some basketball skills, but mostly I want the team to see some of the avenues that basketball can take them - such as college,” said McDonald.
The University of Denver Pioneers also are inviting the Dora Moore girls basketball team to attend their game against the University of New Orleans on Saturday, Jan. 25.
The Eagles have six more games left in the season. Their next game will be against Skinner Middle School on Thursday Jan. 23.
The Dora Moore girl’s team is one of 23 Denver Public Schools middle schools participating in the Nuggets/Avalanche Prep League. The league was created in 1997, giving thousands of middle school students a chance to participate in six different after school sports leagues. Students must maintain a ‘C’ average or better in each class in order to participate.
Dora Moore School is located at 846 Corona St. The school telephone number is 303-831-7044.
