“Reminiscence”, a film written and directed by students, will be filmed Saturday, Jan. 18 through Tuesday, Jan. 21 at several Denver locations.
In this production, a 21st century adolescent suddenly finds himself surrounded by people who won’t listen to him. The film chronicles his reactions. On Jan. 18 and 19, filming will take place at two Denver residences. On Jan. 20, filming continues at the Auraria campus library and moves to West High School (951 Elati St.) on Jan. 21. Production times are from approximately 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. every day.
The director of “Reminiscence” is senior Laura Peniche and the Production Manager is Daniel Inkeles, a junior, working under the tutelage of Robert Newman, teacher for the Digital Film Production class at the Career Education Center.
Students have held auditions among professional actors from the Denver area. The film will be shown at the Career Education Center’s Film Festival to be held on May 13. The film will also be submitted to DAFFY, Denver’s Academy of Film Festivals for Youth. Food donations from Chipotle’s and King Soopers will keep the students going through the four days.
The Fred N. Thomas Career Education Center (CEC), a public high school located at West 26th Ave. and Eliot St., serves the Denver area with a solid career preparation program. Students may come half day to attend one of 20 career classes varying from neurosurgeon to lawyer to chef to architect to automobile technician.
CEC also offers a full day program that utilizes career courses on campus and community college classes to prepare students for college and post-secondary training. Students from DPS high schools, other districts, home schooling and private schools are invited to attend CEC. Interested parties may call Ms. Merrilee Thomas at 303-964-3059.
