The Board of Education will conduct a Regular Meeting and work session tomorrow (Thursday, Jan. 15) at the administration building, 900 Grant St.
Among the agenda items at the Regular Meeting at 5:00 p.m. are final approval of new school programs at Smiley Middle School and Gust and Carson elementary schools.
The proposals include a new International Preparatory Magnet (IPM) program at Smiley Middle School (2540 Holly St.); adding high achieving students to the Highly Gifted program at Gust Elementary School (3440 W. Yale Ave.); and adding Carson Elementary School (5420 E. 1st Ave.) to the list of schools serving highly gifted and high achieving students in southeast Denver. All new programs would begin with the 2003-2004 school year.
Under “New Business,” the Board of Education is expected to hear a proposal to launch a new Dual Language program as a school-within-a-school at Fairmont Elementary School (520 W. 3rd Ave.) In addition, the Board is expected to consider charter school renewals for Wyatt Edison Charter and Odyssey Charter.
