West High School students are inviting family and community members to celebrate “100 Ways To Care For The Earth” on Saturday, December 7. The event, which started with a simple art contest inspired by the Colorado drought, has turned into an all day affair with 120 West High School students participating. Artwork will be on display at the school (951 Elati St .) during the following activities:
- 10:00 a.m. Mr. Larry Romero, Executive Director of Latin American Educational Fund announces the opportunities for student scholarships and free computer classes for parents.
- 11:30 a.m. Local artists will judge art contest, called “101 Simple Ways to Care for the Earth and Its Resources”.
- 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. Families are invited to bring their favorite dish to share during a free lunch.
“I told the kids from the start that this event was to raise consciousness, not to make you feel guilty,” said Armando Ramirez, teacher & event organizer. “It is to raise the level of awareness and a sense of responsibility that we have to ourselves and future generations. That’s the goal.”
Donations will be accepted. Proceeds will benefit the needy and homeless.
