Can Drive Nets Oodles At Barney Ford Elementary School

The students at Barney Ford Elementary have set a new school record during the annual canned and boxed food drive.

Each year the Student Council sponsors the food drive to gather nonperishable items for families in need in the Denver Metro area.

A total of 2,102 food items were collected by the students in ECE through fifth-grade - a record total according to Ford principal Wanda Lenox.

Student Council members collected the canned goods from classrooms each day from Nov. 18 through Nov. 25. Mrs. Eva Longbrake's fourth grade class won the collection contest with 400 items. Mrs. Romona Allen's first grade class collected 316 items, and Mrs. Tracy Colburn’s fifth graders took third place with 200 items. The food was donated to the Salvation Army.

Ford Elementary School is located at 14500 Maxwell Place. Telephone: 303-371-6990.
