“Celebrate the Season” at McKinley-Thatcher Elementary School

On December 18th at 2:30 p.m., the families and friends of McKinley-Thatcher Elementary are cordially invited to attend “Celebrate the Season,” the 7th annual winter holiday program presented by the fourth- and fifth grade intermediate choir.

The intermediate choir, under the direction of fourth grade teacher Barbara Mayes, is composed of all fourth and fifth grade students at the school. Accompanying the choir on the piano is Mrs. Brenda Dockery, fifth grade teacher.

Over the years, the choir has presented many outstanding programs on a wide variety of themes including the history of dance, a patriotic tribute to America, and an all Disney program.

“Celebrate the Season” has students singing in large and small group ensembles, dancing, and playing Orff instruments and autoharps. In addition, every student has a part narrating the program as they share the music, poetry and traditions of Las Posadas, Hannukah, Christmas, and Kwanzaa.

Highlights of the program include “Sing Noel,” a medley of “Three Blind Mice,” “Row, Row, Row, Your Boat,” and “Frere Jacques” set to winter holiday lyrics, as well as traditional carols and a special “Christmas Waltz” performed by Mr. and Mrs. Claus.

Audience participation is always a favorite part of the choir’s productions, and this one is no exception. Members of the audience will be invited to join the choir singing and dancing as they “Celebrate the Season.”

McKinley-Thatcher Elementary School is located at 1230 S. Grant St. Telephone: 303-777-8816.
