Four elementary schools have had their School Accountability Report rankings changed following corrected data released by the Colorado Department of Education.
Due to a programming error in the state calculation of the School Accountability Reports, changes to the School Accountability Report ranking are as follows:
Bryant-Webster Elementary School will receive an “average” rating; Cheltenham, Munroe and Valverde elementary schools will receive a “low” rating.
In data released Dec. 5 by the state, Bryant-Webster had been ranked “low” and the other three had been ranked “unsatisfactory.” (The state indicated Dec. 5 that Valverde would likely move up.)
In addition, the programming error resulted in changes to the improvement ratings given to schools. As a result, changes to the improvement ratings are as follows:
Bryant-Webster Elementary School’s will receive an “improve” rating; Castro, Cowell, Fairmont and Mitchell elementary schools will receive a “significant improvement” rating and Schenck Elementary School will receive a “decline” improvement rating.
Bryant-Webster had initially received a “stable” rating; Castro, Cowell, Fairmont and Mitchell had received “improve” ratings, and Schenck had received “significant decline.”
With the changes, six of the 11 elementary schools rated unsatisfactory last year have improved to “low,” taking them off the highly-watched “unsatisfactory” list. And in all, three schools climbed from the “low” category to “average.”
Among the 21 “unsatisfactory” schools last year at all grade levels, 15 have improved to “low.”
