Barnum Pajama Party Encourages Kids To Read Before Bedtime And All The Time

Students and parents at Barnum Elementary School are invited to a pajama party on Thursday, November 7th between 5:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. at the school (85 Hooker St.) At that time, children who have earned points through the DPS Million Word Campaign will be able to select books to take home. The campaign is part of the new DPS Literacy Program which encourages all students to read one million words a year.

Students may lounge and read in the All-Purpose room while a presentation is made on the importance of reading. Milk and cookies will be served to the children at the Barnum PJ Party and each Barnum student will also receive a free stuffed animal as their reading buddy. Families can also participate in the "read alongs" performed by Principal Myrella Goff, teachers and literacy coaches. Lastly, all will have a chance to see a favorite teacher or staff member in their pajamas!
