Educators Kick-Off Technical Education Pathways Project To Promote Construction & Maintenance Careers

Denver Public Schools, Red Rocks Community College, and other organizations are forming a partnership to promote careers in construction and maintenance. The effort is called Technical Education Pathways project and will kick-off at a luncheon scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 21, 2002 at Kennedy High School (2855 S. Lamar St.).

“The mission of this partnership is to promote construction and maintenance careers as careers of choice, to provide direction towards the technical education pathways that provide entry into those careers and to supply encouragement and assistance to those who look to follow those pathway,” said Cathy Rock, Project Coordinator.

Invited participants include representatives from DPS, Jefferson County Public Schools, Tri-County Workforce Center, Colorado Office of Workforce Development, Mi Casa Resource Center, U.S. Department of Labor, professionals from metro area construction firms and local apprenticeship programs.

The partnership is funded by a grant from the National Science Foundation.
