Manual Students Give $400 To Denver Police Officer Kurt Peterson; Donation At 2 p.m. Today

Students throughout the Manual High School complex have raised $400 for Denver police officer Kurt Peterson and that money will be given to Police Captain Mike O’Neill today (Friday, November 15) at 2 p.m. at the school.

Marsha Pointer, principal of the Leadership Academy, one of three small high schools now housed at the Manual complex, said officer Peterson had been a “close friend” of the school for many years and the students were deeply affected when he was shot Nov. 7. Officer Peterson was shot in the cheek during what appeared to be a routine traffic stop; he is currently recovering from his wounds.

DPS security staff member Gladys White, a longtime member of the Manual staff, led the fundraising.

The Manual school complex is located at 1700 E. 28th Ave. The telephone number for the Leadership Academy is 303-391-6370.
