South High School Students Capture State Rifle Championships

South High School students captured the State Rifle Championship this past weekend at Pueblo Centennial High School.

The state championship was South’s fourth in a row.

South High School also won first and second places in the two-person championship and had the two top individual shooters in the state (Becky Jansen and Danielle Stauff).

In the DPS league, both the men’s and women’s teams at South are undefeated. The men's team is competing for their second straight city championship and the women's team for their seventh straight city championship.

Three rifle league matches remain along with the All-City Mixed Match (two men and two women on each team) on Nov. 21st at George Washington High School.

South High School will participate with the other DPS JROTC Units in the Denver Veteran's Day Parade on Saturday, Nov. 9.

The All-City Inspection of the South High School JROTC will be the afternoon of Wednesday, Nov. 20.
