Parents and students considering school options in southeast Denver are encouraged to attend the “Got Kids? Got Choices!” school fair to be held Wednesday, Nov. 20 at South High School, 1700 E. Louisiana Ave.
The event will run from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Information tables will be open from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. A middle school presentation will begin at 6:30 p.m.; choice and magnet information will be presented from 7:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Information about athletics, activities, special education and career education will also be available.
Secondary (middle and high school) magnet application deadlines are Dec. 13; elementary magnet school deadlines are Jan. 31, 2003 for the 2003-2004 school year.
The district will conduct its annual Choice process during the month of January. The process allows parents to select a school outside their neighborhood school boundaries on a space-available basis. Under the Choice process, transportation is not provided by the district. Parents wanting the best chance to secure a seat in a school that interests them should fill out a Choice form, available at schools beginning Jan. 6, by Jan. 31, 2003. Forms submitted after that date are considered on a first-come, first-served basis.
The Southeast Area School of Choice Fair is being sponsored by the Southeast Area Superintendent’s Office. Please call 303-778-9044 for more information about the fair.
