Sabin Elementary School’s choir and John F. Kennedy High School’s ROTC were thanked this week by the U.S. Department of Education and the Denver Federal Executive Board for their participation on Sept. 11 commemorations at Fort Logan National Cemetery.
Both schools received $100 and a plaque recognizing the schools’ efforts from Michael S. Hacskaylo, chairperson of the Denver Federal Executive Board, and Patricia M. Chlouber, the secretary’s regional representative to the U.S. Department of Education.
The JFK High School ROTC presented the colors and the Sabin choir sang during the Sept. 11 service at Fort Logan.
“The John F. Kennedy High School ROTC unit not only distinguished themselves, but also represented their high school with dignity, honor and the seasoned professionalism of an active duty unit,” said the plaque given to JFK High School.
