Georgia Gunzenhauser, paraprofessional at College View Elementary, has been chosen as an Exemplary Paraeducator by the School Paraeducator Association of Colorado. She will be honored at an awards ceremony Oct. 26 during the association’s annual conference.

Gunzenhauser has 19 years of experience as a paraprofessional in Denver. She has assisted in special education classes and most recently has been working in kindergarten and supervising the cafeteria.

She has developed a daily “Quiz Seminar” to help students in kindergarten through fifth grade with their studies as they wait in the food line. Using the curriculum, she develops the questions during her own time to reinforce student learning.

Gunzenhauser has made an effort to learn Spanish to reach all College View students. Her commitment to the students and the community extends beyond the school day, and she can be seen interacting with the students and their families as she takes her daily walk in the neighborhood.
