Rosedale Elementary School Celebrates Annual Book Fair/Chili Hot Dog Night – Links To Million Word Campaign

Rosedale Elementary School will celebrate its annual book fair and chili hot dog cook out Thursday, Oct. 17, from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. The Annual Book Fair/Chili Hot Dog Night is hosted by the PTSA. Students, parents and the community are invited.

“We have been doing the Book Fair/Chili Hot Dog Night for the past six years,” said principal Khoa Nguyen. “This is a creative way for us to bring the community together, let people know that reading is fun, and ask families to bring support to reading at home.”

The event will also help with the Million Words Campaign, a district learning initiative designed to encourage students to read one million words each year. During the cook out, family and friends will also have a chance to browse through and purchase new books. The book fair encourages parents and the community to help students achieve the million-word goal.

Rosedale’s goal for the campaign is to travel beyond a million words, Nguyen said. To track the million words, each student at Rosedale has a map of the United States. After reading 20,000 words, the student will color in a state.

When all 50 states are colored in, the student has reached the million-word goal.

Rosedale Elementary School is located at 2330 S. Sherman Street. The school telephone number is 303-744-2381.
