Call it “Dedication Week” in Denver Public Schools.
Two elementary schools and one middle school will be dedicated next week in a flurry of formal ceremonies for high-quality facilities that are helping the district keep up with increasing growth in the student population, particularly in northeast Denver.
The week begins, however, with a formal dedication of a new playground at Colfax Elementary School built through a partnership between Denver Public Schools, the city, private foundations, and the University of Colorado at Denver. At Colfax, key alumni, staff, and community volunteers also played a role in fundraising and installation of the “Learning Landscape” project.
Mayor Wellington Webb is expected to attend the Colfax playground dedication Monday, September 30 at 11:30 a.m. Colfax Elementary is located at 1526 Tennyson St.
The three school dedications are:
- Bruce Randolph Middle School on Tuesday, Oct. 1 at 6:00 p.m. The school is located at 3955 Steele St.
- Lowry Elementary School on Wednesday, Oct. 2 at 1:30 p.m. The school is located at 8001 E. Cedar Ave.
- Lena Archuleta Elementary School on Friday, Oct. 4 at 1:30 p.m. The school is located at 16000 E. Maxwell Pl.
Formal dedication of the district’s fourth new school to open this year – Rachel Noel Middle School – is being planned for November.
