Career Education Center Open House Tuesday, October 1

Denver Public Schools' Career Education Center (CEC) is hosting its semi-annual Open House from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 1. Parents, students and prospective students from the metro area are invited to visit teachers and classrooms, sample the Culinary Arts Program's scrumptious delicacies, listen to the Citywide Jazz Combo and enjoy an evening out.

Parents of ninth-grade students are invited to attend a special orientation beginning at 5 p.m. that will showcase all of CEC's programs, including college credit and internship programs.

Parents will also get a sneak preview of the new CEC Middle College Program. The Middle College Program is a five-year high school in which students can earn a two-year college associate's degree that can be applied to a bachelor's or other advanced degree.

The Career Education Center is the region's only comprehensive career and technical education magnet school. Located at 2650 Eliot Street in Denver, CEC is open to all 9th through 12th grade students in the metro Denver area. Free tuition and busing is available to all students within the Denver Public Schools service area.

CEC represents 21 career programs including Architectural Technology, Digital Film Production, Athletic Training/Sports Medicine, Early Childhood/Elementary Education, Audio Engineering, Executive Internship, Auto Body Repair & Painting, Fashion Careers & Clothing Design, Automotive Technology, Fire Science/Fire Fighter I, Business Management, Fitness Trainer/Human Performance, Cisco Networking, Med-Prep/Health Care Careers, Commercial Art/Computer Graphics, Music Careers/Keyboarding & Composing, Commercial Photography, Police Science/Criminal Justice, Construction Technologies , Welding, and Culinary Arts.
