| The Denver Board of Education has scheduled a special meeting at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4 to discuss the proposed English Language Immersion Amendment proposed on the November ballot. The Board has invited a representative of the proponents of the amendment, English for the Children, and the opponents, English Plus, to address the Board. Board members will also have the opportunity to pose questions to an independent legal counsel who was asked to analyze the proposed amendment.
From 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., the Board of Education will hold a public hearing on the English Language Immersion Amendment. Citizens who wish to address the Board on this issue should call the Board office, 720-423-3211, by 2 p.m. Sept. 4. Speakers will be limited to a maximum of three minutes. The time per speaker may be shortened depending upon the number of speakers who sign up.
The Board will discuss the amendment and possibly take action at its regular meeting on Thursday, Sept. 5. |
