School Starts Monday, August 19; Have You Registered Yet?

With the start of the 2002-2003 school year just a few days away, parents are being urged to make sure that their children are registered and ready to learn when classes start Monday, August 19.

All students must fill out registration forms even if they are returning to the same school. A new process allows parents with returning students to double-check and approve some of existing information, but all students must register each year.

"It's important that each student and parent know that school starts Monday and that we need to have all our students in class ready to learn," said John Leslie, Assistant Superintendent for Student Services. "There are some sections of the city where schools are not yet seeing students come in to let us know their plans. You may be enrolled and on our list of students, but we still need the registration papers each year."

If you are enrolling for the first time in Denver Public Schools, you will need to bring your child's birth certificate, your child's immunization records, proof of your home address (a driver's license, utility bill or copy of a lease), and the name and address of your child's previous school (if you are transferring from another school district) so that your child's academic records may be obtained.

For more information, please call your neighborhood school or the Public Information Office at 720-423-3414.
