Keillor will be joined by Denver resident and A Prairie Home Companion regular Mollie O'Brien, The Hopeful Gospel Quartet and student performers from DSA, a Denver Public Schools magnet school.

The event is sponsored by the DSA Parent, Teacher and Student Organization (PTSO). The Rocky Mountain News is the media sponsor.
"We are honored that Garrison, Mollie and The Hopeful Gospel Quartet are donating their time and considerable talents to support Denver School of the Arts," said DSA Principal Patti Bippus. "This event also provides an incredible opportunity for our students to perform onstage with these national-caliber entertainers."
Keillor, a gifted writer, entertainer and raconteur whose mythical Lake Wobegon, "where all the women are strong, all the men are good-looking and all the children are above average," has become a national icon. He began hosting A Prairie Home Companion in 1974.
Produced by Minnesota Public Radio and based in St. Paul, Minn., the two-hour weekly show airs on public radio stations nationwide. In Colorado, the show is broadcast by Colorado Public Radio, KUNC-FM in Greeley, and other independent radio stations.
In addition to the radio show, Keillor has written a number of books, including several children's books, as well as short stories, articles and essays for Time, The New Yorker and numerous other publications.
"Nothing you do for children is ever wasted," said Keillor, who is donating his time to host the DSA benefit.
A native of West Virginia, Mollie O'Brien has lived in Denver since 1980. Her special brand of music, which combines R&B, jazz and country, has won her national and international acclaim. She has appeared at every major acoustic music festival and venue in the United States and has toured Europe, the United Kingdom and South America. O'Brien is the mother of two musically talented daughters who attend Denver School of the Arts and East High School.
Proceeds from the event will help fund community outreach, purchase needed academic and arts program equipment, and fund in-school scholarships.
Founded in 1991, Denver School of the Arts is the only comprehensive arts magnet school in the Rocky Mountain region. DSA provides students in grades 6-12 with the opportunity to grow academically while developing their artistic talents. Students audition for admittance to the school in the arts major of their choice: cinematography/videography, creative writing, dance, instrumental music, technical theater/design, theater, visual art and vocal music. The PTSO, a 501(c )( 3) nonprofit organization, helps support the students and faculty of DSA through fundraising, organizational and strategic planning consultation, and volunteer efforts.
