On Thursday, May 9, Montbello High School (5000 Crown. Blvd.) will dedicate a nine classroom addition at 6:30 p.m. as part of the 21st Century High Technology Academy. The academy is a school within a school offering one of the most unique technological centers in the nation.
This project was built with proceeds from the $305 million dollar bond, approved by voters in 1998. Four classrooms were also remodeled at Montbello High School under Phase One of this project. The Academy enhances student achievement, self-esteem, and the development of communication and social skills through the use of technology.
Then on Monday, May 13, Denison Montessori (1821 S. Yates St.) will hold a groundbreaking for a new science/library addition at 10:00 a.m. The new school wing will be approximately 6,000 square feet and will provide a flexible environment to support a variety of functions.
Also, the structure will include a solarium and amphitheater. The amphitheater will be centrally located to accommodate large presentations for the parental involvement that is critical to the success of the school.
Construction has already started. The addition is to be occupied at the start of the fall 2002 semester.
