A brand new playground is on the way for Southmoor Elementary School, which was named the national winner for Kellogg's Kids Can! Club sweepstakes.

Winners were selected by Kellogg's after a box-top drive. Southmoor Elementary School sent in 699 box tops in all, making them eligible for the grand prize drawing.

On Thursday, May 23 the school and students will receive their reward – seeing the beard being shaved off physical education teacher Joseph Bazzanella and then watching him take three pies to the face. The event will begin at 9:15 a.m. Southmoor Elementary School is located at 3755 S. Magnolia Way.

The new playground will be built to the "Learning Landscape" specifications currently being built throughout Denver Public Schools in collaboration with the City and County of Denver and architects with the University of Colorado at Denver.
