Letters Today At Steck Elementary School And Hill Middle School

Today (Thursday, April 4) principals at both Steck Elementary School and Hill Middle School are sending home letters to their school communities about an alleged threat.

The two schools share the same property in east Denver. Steck is located at 425 Ash Street; Hill at 451 Clermont St.

Following is a copy of the letter being sent home at Steck; the letter for the Hill community is identical:

Dear members of the Steck Elementary School Community,

We have received information from DPS Security about an alleged threat that references Steck Elementary and includes a specific time tomorrow morning (Friday, April 5).

DPS Security is working collaboratively with the Denver Police Department in evaluating this information and they have determined that the information has low credibility. However, the threat involves enough detail that responding to it rises above the level of something that is routine. All city agencies are working together with DPS Security to take the necessary precautions on behalf of the school. There is no higher priority in this district than the safety of the students and school community.

Tomorrow you will likely see an increased security presence in the neighborhood and around our school from the school district and police. Please be vigilant and report anything suspicious to us or the Denver Police Department.

Please call me with any questions or concerns.

Principal, Toni Knight
