Community members are invited to an informational meeting next week to discuss school enrollment growth in the far northeast Denver neighborhoods of Montbello and Green Valley.
Denver Public Schools will host the meeting on Monday, April 8 at Greenwood Elementary School (5130 Durham Court) beginning at 6:30 p.m.
The meeting will provide information about growth in the area and the impact on student enrollment.
Currently, Montbello and Green Valley neighborhoods are served by eight elementary schools, one middle school, and one high school. One new elementary school and one new middle school are set to open with the 2002-2003 school year.
Dave Lowry, Director of Planning and Research, will address possible strategies to deal with the limited capacity in the area. He will also discuss strategies to deal with the long-term growth.
Board of Education member Kevin Patterson, who represents northeast Denver, will also make comments and various school principals are also expected to speak. Aaron Gray, Director of Community Relations, will moderate the meeting and invite community questions following the presentation.
