This is the ninth year that Denver has co-hosted and participated in the Invitational School Bus Road-eo. Events include a written test, a first-aid test, a pre-trip inspection and the "road-eo" course which has buses making school bus stops, stopping at railroad crossings, driving through narrow lanes and around tight corners. The event will determine the best drivers along the front range.
The 9th Annual Invitational School Bus Road-eo is scheduled for Saturday, May 4, 2002 starting at 8:30 a.m. (rain or shine) at Jefferson County Stadium Facility (West 6th Avenue and Kipling Street). An awards ceremony will occur shortly after the competition is complete (usually around 4:00 p.m.).
This year there are about 135 registered contestants from area districts including Jefferson County, Boulder Valley, Douglas County, Aurora, and Cherry Creek. First place finishers from each district may go on to participate in the State Road-eo in June and maybe even the National Road-eo, in Chicago. In addition to trophies for top winners, there are numerous prizes and gifts for participants, spectators and guests provided by various vendors.
School buses are the safest method of travel of all the different methods of transportation. This event hopes to bring positive public awareness to the business of transporting students.
Food and refreshments will be available. Entertainment includes a band and disc jockey as well as the fun of watching.
