A Colorful Day To Celebrate Reading And Writing: Young Authors Conference Thursday, April 25

Authors and illustrators from Denver Public Schools will display their work throughout the day Thursday, April 25 at Temple Emanuel, 51 Grape Street.

Each elementary school in the district has selected two books and will send each book's writer and illustrator to the annual Young Authors Conference. Some books are written and illustrated by the same student.

In the morning, schools with names beginning with letters A through G will display their work; the afternoon is for schools with letters H through Z. The morning session runs from 8:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.; the afternoon from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The first half-hour of each session allows parents and others to view the work and provide written feedback to the students.

At 9:10 a.m. (morning session) and at 1:10 p.m. (afternoon session), storyteller Bob Avstreigh will entertain all the young writers and illustrators.

All students who are selected to attend the conference are also given a chance to take home a new book.

All community members are invited. For more information, please call 720-423-3414.
