The Pupil Assistance Fund is dedicated to assisting students to improve functions in school and the community by providing a wide range of supplies and services.
The organization provides clothing, shoes, boots, vision evaluations, eyeglasses, dental care, toothbrushes, shampoo, school materials and many other items for students in need.
On Friday April 26, PAF will hold is annual meeting and breakfast honoring major benefactors, DPS nurses, social workers, psychologists and friends. The meeting will be held at the Fred N. Thomas Career Education Center at 2650 Eliot St.
The event will begin at 7:30 a.m. with coffee. Breakfast is at 8:00 a.m. and awards, gifts, and recognitions will begin at 8:30 a.m.
PAF was founded in the 1940's, initially as part of Junior Community Chest.
Students who meet the federal guidelines established for subsidized school lunches are eligible for support from PAF. A school nurse, a school social worker, a school psychologist and/or respective program manager review each request for assistance. The organization serves over 10,000 students annually.
