Congratulations to the Colorado Chapter winners of 2002! The National Spanish Exam is a comprehensive test that is offered in those schools whose teachers are members of the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese. Students of all levels of Spanish may take the test.
Each year, George Washington High School has over 100 students taking the National Spanish Exam. The Colorado Chapter winners of 2002 are:
Katherine Nakazono, Junior, won second place in the Level 4 Outside Experience category with a score of 48 placing her in the 80th percentile.
Nicole Deming, Senior, won second place in the Level 4 Regular category with a score of 52 placing her in the 87th percentile.
Michael Graham, Senior , won third place in the Level 4 Regular category with a score of 51 placing him in the 85th percentile.
Jaime Latcham, Sophomore, won first place in the Level 3 Regular category with a score of 52 placing her in the 87th percentile.
Shyam Patel, Junior, won second place in the Level 3 Regular category with a score of 48 placing him in the 80th percentile.
Amanda Rewers, Junior, won second place in the Level 3 Regular category with a score of 48 placing her in the 80th percentile.
(Outside Experience category means the student took a Level 4 exam even though they have had more than 4 years of Spanish; Regular category applies to students who take a Level 3 test, for example, in their third year of Spanish)
The National winners have not yet been announced.
