Educators From The Central Asian State Of Kazakhstan To Visit Denver Public Schools

Through the Democracy Education Exchange Program, Denver Public Schools will be hosting representatives of Kazakhstan's Ministry of Education. This nine-member delegation of high-level education officials will be working with their western counterparts to promote civic education.

The group includes: Tildash Butuova, Head of the Department for Secondary Education in the Ministry of Education and Yedil Mamytbekov, Deputy Head of the Department for Social and Economic Analysis in the Administration of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Their visits to the schools will involve classroom observation, teacher-delegation conversations, a tour of the school, and student-delegation conversations. This visit is funded by the Department of Education and conducted by the Social Science Education Consortium of Boulder. The schedule follows:

Monday, April 15  
8:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Kazakhstan Delegation visits DPS Boardroom for Civics Seminar and overview of DPS
12:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Half of the delegation (Group B) will visit Skinner M.S. (3435 W. 40th Ave.) and the other half (Group A) will visit Green Valley Elementary (4100 Jericho St.)
   
Tuesday, April 16  
9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Group A to visit Skinner M.S. and Group B to visit George Washington H.S. (655 S. Monoco St.)
12:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Group A to George Washington and Group B to Green Valley
4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Community Event at George Washington in the Social Room; Community Relations will give an overview on how our CDM‚s work and Kazakhstan Delegation will give a short presentation
   
Wednesday, April 17  
9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Delegation to visit the Center for International Relations at West H.S.
