Students at Force Elementary School will get special instruction through the district's Indian Education Program on American Indian culture. Instructors from the program will be at Force on March 7 from 10:15 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. to teach on the culture and demonstrate traditional regalia and artifacts to students.
"This resource is tremendously valuable because we service such a diverse group of students," said Force Elementary School Principal Rory Pullens. "Educating our teachers and exposing our students to diverse cultures is something that they will cherish for life."
The curriculum, Powwow: Dancing the Circle is presented in preparation for Denver's March Pow*Wow which runs March 22nd through the 24th at the Denver Coliseum. The event is one of the largest gatherings of its kind in the nation. More than 250 students from Force Elementary School are expected to attend.
