Media Reception For Denver Teachers Awards Nominees Friday, March 8

Denver Teachers' Awards nominees for the 2001-2002 school year will be welcomed at a media reception Friday, March 8. The reception will begin at 4 p.m. in the First Floor Board Room at the administration building, 900 Grant Street.

The nominees – suggested by principals, school staff members, parents, students, and citizens – are selected by a committee of college professors.

The nominations include letters and documents supportive of teaching excellence.

Teachers nominated must have taught five years or more in the District prior to this year and must not have won this award before.

Denver Teachers' Awards will present two Helen Phelps Awards honoring an individual and a company for their outstanding volunteer contributions to the Denver Public Schools.

A banquet for all awards will be held in May.

Denver Teachers' Awards feels that this program of recognizing outstanding teachers and volunteers offers all citizens the opportunity honor the tremendous contributions to excellence in education. Denver Teachers' Awards sees this program as a show of support and admiration for our public school teachers.

Denver Teachers' Awards is a non-profit organization that has been awarding DPS teachers since 1957. DTA Board members are businessmen and women, former teachers, parents and community members.
