"Dear Dr. King." Letters From Students At Columbine Elementary School Will Be Read Saturday, February 9

"I am 8 years old. I have a big family. I admire you because you changed our world because you stood up and formed a boycott so black and white people could ride the buses together. You were so friendly, respectful, and peaceful."

"Thank you for all you have done. You have done a lot for this world."

"You are a hero because you help us be nice to other people."

During the month of January, students at Columbine Elementary School wrote, edited, and rewrote letters to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Now, the letters are on display at the Ford Warren Branch Library, 2825 High Street, in northeast Denver.

Students will read the letters aloud Saturday, February 9 beginning at 11:00 a.m.

All students who have written letters will receive a certificate and honors certificates will go to students writing the best three letters from each classroom.

For more information, please call Jami Powell Columbine Elementary School, 303-388-3617.
