The Department of Food and Nutrition Services will contribute to the success of DPS students by offering a free breakfast to all students at participating schools on the day(s) they are taking Colorado Student Assessment Program (CSAP) exams.
The first round of CSAP tests is set for third-grade reading beginning February 19 and running through February 27. Each school has scheduled their own individual test dates.
"Scientific studies abound that prove a positive correlation between good nutrition and readiness to learn," said Donna Wittrock, Executive Director, Department of Food and Nutrition Services. "We want to do our part to ensure students are as ready as possible for the CSAP."
Food and Nutrition Services will be prepared to serve a free "breakfast in a bag" to test-taking students on the day of their CSAP. Even though there will be no cost for the breakfast, students' names will be recorded. Schools must contact Food and Nutrition Services to participate at 303-764-5626.
CSAP exams will be given in grades three (other subjects than reading) through 10 beginning March 11 through April 3. For more information on schools participating in the free CSAP breakfast, please call the Public Information Office, 720-423-3414.
