Schenck Elementary Students Will Visit With Endangered Species Today (Thursday, January 24) As Part Of An Essay-Writing Contest

WHO: Fourth- and fifth-grade students at Schenck Elementary School; representatives from Mutual Of Omaha's "Wild Kingdom"

WHAT: An opportunity to learn about and see a variety of endangered species including rare varieties of tiger cubs, bear cubs, alligators, and pythons. The visit is in anticipation of a national essay-writing contest on endangered species.

WHERE: In the main auditorium at Schenck Elementary School, 1300 S. Lowell Blvd.

WHEN: Today, January 24, beginning at 1:15 a.m.

WHY: "This project does two things ¯ helps develop literacy skills and helps students become more environmentally aware," says Schenck fourth-grade teacher Tim Triplett.
