Boundary changes for the Montbello area are being proposed that will affect how students are assigned to schools beginning with the 2002-2003 school year.

The boundary changes are needed to create an attendance area for the new Gateway Elementary School. A public meeting for all interested parents and community members is scheduled for January 24 at 6:30 p.m. at Greenwood Elementary School located at 5130 Durham Ct.

Following is additional detail about the proposal:
Gateway Elementary School (16000 Maxwell Place in Montbello) - Attendance area would be bounded by Chambers Boulevard on the west, 56th Avenue to the north, Pena Boulevard on the east, and 40th Avenue on the south. The boundary area for Greenwood Elementary School would remain the same except that the eastern border would be defined by Chambers Boulevard. For Oakland Elementary School, the boundary would remain the same except that the eastern border would be defined by Chambers Boulevard.
